I am way late to the Glossier party. I think that part of me was scared to order because aside from the showroom in New York, the product is only available online and I had no way of seeing anything in person before purchasing. After a few years of seeing countless glowing reviews online, I finally decided that it was time to pull the trigger and try some things out.
One thing that I loved about Glossier before even receiving the product was the aesthetic of the line. Everything is super cute, but in a minimalistic way. The product range isn't huge, but it's enough to create that beautiful, dewy and fresh look that is associated with the Glossier brand.
The products that I ordered were Boy Brow in Brown, Haloscope highlighter in Quartz, Stretch Concealer in Light, Cloud Paint blush in Dusk, and the Balm Dotcom lip balm in the Birthday and Coconut scents. Here's what I thought about everything that I bought.

This concealer is definitely much more emollient than my usual choice, the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I am around an NC20 skin tone and the light was a great shade match for me. The first time that I used it I placed it everywhere that I normally would put concealer- under my eyes, on my nose, and a bit on my cheeks to help cover redness. The nose ended up being a mistake. I have pretty dry skin overall except for my nose, which is an oil slick. Within a few hours the concealer had broken up and my nose was a hot mess. Under my eyes and on my cheeks however, I really loved it. With my under eye skin and cheeks being dry, I think that the extremely emollient consistency of the product made my skin look really nice and natural, not dry or cakey as can sometimes happen for me.

This is my first cream/stick highlighter. I'm not sure what took me so long, but I love this. I was going back and forth about whether I should get Moonstone or Quartz, but ended up choosing Quartz. I am so glad that I did. The shade is a bit darker and more pink than Moonstone, which is lighter and more white. It gives a beautiful natural looking glow, without being as shimmery as something like a Becca highlighter. There's no sparkle here, just a gorgeous sheen. Apparently there is real quartz in the outer ring. Never thought about putting ground up crystals on my face, but I'm not mad at it. At first I applied it by rubbing some onto my finger and then tapping it onto my cheekbones, but soon I began just applying it straight from the tube onto my face. I have not experienced it rubbing away my other makeup, but that would be something to be cautious about if you apply it that way. It's difficult to tell how glowy it is from the swatch photo above since it is still, but it is beautiful.
Boy Brown in Brown. |
Next up is one of the main reasons that I decided to order from Glossier- their famous Boy Brow. My eyebrows suck. They are light and sparse. I didn't even really have a major plucking or waxing phase that I can blame myself for, I just didn't get good brow genes. I typically use the Anastasia Brow Wiz or a Dior brow pencil to fill them in, but it can really turn into the most consuming part of my makeup routine. This product makes it SO easy. I tried a cheap dupe from Essence that I found at the drugstore, and I wasn't that impressed. I loved the idea of it (just brush it through your brows and go!) but it was clumpy and uneven. I was a bit worried that this would perform in a similar manner, but was relieved to find that it is much, much better. It disperses a good amount of product that is definitely buildable so that I can get to the point that I want before ending up with Sharpie brows. The only difficulty that I sometimes have is near the tail end of my brows which is very narrow and hard to get to even with the super small brush, but I will just fill that small portion in with a pencil if it's not looking how I want it to.

This blush was probably the biggest risk that I took in this order. Blush is one product that I feel always looks so much different on my skin than I expect, and often I find that blushes can look very orange on me. Why would I order this brownish peachy pink then? Because I was hoping that it would be a nice neutral shade that I could pair with a variety of looks- red lips, purple eyeshadow, etc. The pink blushes that I favor such as Becca Flowerchild and NARS Deep Throat don't always look right with everything. It just so happens that this blush looks amazing. When blended out it gives a nice, neutral flush to the cheeks that isn't overpowering or too orange for my taste. I like to apply by squeezing out the TINIEST amount of product onto the back of my hand. I do this very carefully, because this shit comes out super fast if you aren't careful. I will probably still have this same tube until the end of time, because I don't know how I will ever use it all up. After I have my product, I dab a small amount on my cheeks, blending back toward where I place my contour and bronzer. If it doesn't quite look blended enough with my fingers, I just go over it with a damp beauty blender. When I'm finished, everything just ties together really nicely.

I did not expect to love this lip balm as much as I do. For the past few years, I have been ride or die for the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm. When I started using that, it hurt to spend $7.50 on a tube of lip balm after using EOS and Chapstick forever, but I would never dream of changing things up. Unless it was to use Balm Dotcom. With a price tag of $12, I was hesitant to order thinking that it could never be better than what I was already using. The main reason that I ordered it is because birthday cake and coconut are two of my favorite scents. I'm so glad that my illogical side got the best of me because it turns out I LOVE THIS STUFF. If you've ever used the Kiehl's Lip Balm #1, that's what I was expecting- something super greasy and vaseline-y, which I am really not into. This is totally different, and much more similar to the Jack Black balm. It's not super glossy, but instead gives your lips a lovely, hydrated, and soft feeling. I ended up doing a little research and discovered that this is actually a better bang for your buck than the Jack Black balm. With Jack Black, you get .25oz of product for $7.50, and with the Balm Dotcom, you get .50oz of product for $12. I will for sure be stocking up on this in the custom balm trio, which gets you three balms for $30- an even better deal! Something to note is that the Birthday scent has little micro glitters in it. The only time that I have ever noticed is outside when the sun is reflecting off of my lips, but it wasn't enough glitter to bother me.
Basically, I am super stoked about everything that I bought. Everything performed as good or better than expected, I couldn't really ask for more. Another thing that I like about Glossier is that they send your products in one of their iconic pink bubble-wrap-esque-ziplockish bags. I think it's a really nice touch and a great way to advertise. If you see someone out in the wild with one, you know that they know and it's like you're in the same fan club. Also if you don't know who Emily Weiss, the creator of Glossier is, she is basically life goals. She is a great Instagram follow if you love badass women who have built an empire for themselves and are living their best lives. I'm a very happy customer and I plan on making another order soon to try some other products, like their Wowder and Generation G lipsticks.
