Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is something that I look forward to each year. It's a unique event in that the items on sale are not from the previous season, but rather the new incoming fall styles. I've compiled a list of things that caught my eye this time around, including what I've picked up so far.

philosophy purity trio set- $55 ($87 Value) 

My one must-have from the sale every year is this philosophy purity trio set. This is my favorite cleanser of all time. It's gentle and doesn't strip my skin, yet it's great for removing the most stubborn makeup. I especially love that I can use it on my eyes; I don't even own eye makeup remover because this and maaaaybe micellar water if I need it are sufficient. I love that it comes in the giant pump bottle, so I can just keep it in the shower for easy access. It also lasts an absurdly long time- it takes me about 1.5 to 2 years to go through all of this, and that includes my husband and I both using it daily.

Topshop Kota Crop Faux Leather Jacket- $62.90 ($95 after the sale)

I've been searching for a faux leather jacket for a while now, and the Topshop Kota Crop Faux Leather Jacket caught my eye immediately. The real leather jackets that I've been interested in are all outside of my price range, and it's been hard to find a good faux version. It's also been difficult to find a jacket that isn't too long or boxy, and this one seems like it could be perfect. I checked this one out in store and it felt really nice, and also hit at a good spot- above the hip but not too cropped. I ended up ordering it online in a bigger size so that I could have more room in the shoulders, so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll like the look of the larger jacket just the same. A leather jacket is such a staple piece that I have been missing for the last few years, and I'm excited to start pairing this one with different outfits! From dresses to skirts to jeans, there isn't much that doesn't work with the right leather jacket.

Topshop Double Breasted Plaid Blazer- $69.90 ($110 after the sale) 

A plaid blazer is something that has been on my wishlist for a while. I've been eyeing on at Everlane, but wasn't ready to drop that much cash on one. Thankfully, I spotted this Topshop Double Breasted Blazer while checking out the sale and loved it. The color is great, it has blue and yellow running through the plaid which is a nice touch of color that still goes with everything. It also feels like a nice quality piece. It's more on the lightweight side, which I prefer since I will be able to wear it in pretty much any season. It is so comfortable, which is my favorite part! It's going to be so easy to through this on with jeans and a tank for a simple weekend outfit that looks like I put more effort in than I actually did. A lot of people online were saying that this runs large; personally I like the fit, but I have wide shoulders and typically have to size up in jackets. I purchased a US 10 in this jacket, and went up to a US 12 in the faux leather jacket. I'm usually a true US 8, so hopefully that gives an idea of how it will fit if you have similar shoulders.


The sale is open to Nordstrom card holders from now through July 18th, then will open up to everyone on July 19th and end on August 4th. Nordstrom used to offer a debit card option, which is what I have and absolutely love; it comes straight out of my regular bank account and I get extra cardholder perks. I'm not sure if they still offer the debit option though, and store credit cards are generally useless. I tried to stick to things that I had really been focused on adding to my wardrobe this year, and of course my beloved face wash. Of course I still had to browse the site to see what was poppin'.
