Welcome back! Last week I picked up a few new skincare bits, some of which were impulse buys, and some of which I'd been lusting after for a while.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser- $14.99 |
I should start by saying I actually picked this one up a few weeks ago, but have been happy with it and wanted to throw it in since it's still fairly new to my routine. I was at Ulta a while back browsing the skincare aisle, and they had some kind of promo on a certain line from La Roche-Posay. I didn't end up picking anything up from that line but this caught my eye. For normal to dry skin? Yup. Hydrating and gentle? Yes please! What really sealed the deal for me was the price. $14.99 seemed like a steal considering how much product you get! I have to say that I've really been enjoying it. My go-to cleanser is Purity Made Simple by philosophy, and I think that this works very similarly. It takes off makeup well and doesn't feel harsh. When I am finished my face just feels clean. It also isn't irritating to my eyes or other sensitive areas of the face. Long story short, it is an effective cleanser and I definitely see myself picking it up again.

Laniere Lip Sleeping Mask- $20 |
This one was an impulse buy. I was at Sephora with my friend Jules and I was on a mission for one specific item. While we were browsing I believe she picked this up and said "smell this" and that was it. The scent is fruity and delicious, which I love in a lip product. The first night I used it I was really skeptical. It didn't feel all that moisturizing. I almost put another balm on top but I wanted to see how it performed on it's own. I woke up in the morning and I have to say, that's when I noticed the results. My lips just felt smooth. And even though I really wanted to put a balm on them the night before, they didn't feel dry. My lips were nice and smooth and lipstick ready.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask- $45 |
THIS was the whole reason I wanted to stop in Sephora. I'm a fan of Allana Davison and have seen this pop up in her YouTube videos pretty frequently. My skin usually has a hard time transitioning between seasons and now that fall is here it's needed some extra love. Before seeing it in person, I was enticed by the fact it smells like watermelon (can you tell I love scented products?). It was also touted to be very hydrating, which is always a welcome feature in my eyes. Once I laid my hands on it and gave it a sniff, I knew I needed it. The smell is seriously amazing- like a watermelon jolly rancher. The texture is very gloopy, if that's even a real adjective. The first time I used it I made the mistake of not mixing it up with the spoon that comes with it and it was super runny and hard to apply. Stirring it up with the spoon pre-application made a big difference. After cleansing my face at night, I just take a couple of globs with the spoon, pop them on my face and pat them in, and go to bed. When I wake up in the morning I rinse it off and my skin is left feeling soft and smooth. If you're worried about it getting all over your pillowcase, don't be. It dries down pretty quickly and doesn't seem to transfer onto anything else. Two power ingredients in this are Hyaluronic Acid and AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid). The Hyaluronic acid hydrates and plumps the skin, while the AHA acts as a chemical exfoliant to smooth and even out skin. The only downside to this product is that it's a pain in the ass to apply with the little spoon, but I would say it's 100% worth the struggle.

Lush Birth of Venus Jelly Face Mask- $13.95 |

Lush Birth of Venus Jelly Face Mask- $13.95 |
The past few times I've been to Lush they have either been out of these masks all together or out of the one I really wanted to try, Bunny Moon. I decided to settle for this one because I just really wanted to try the jelly mask texture. With these masks, you need to cleanse your face, dry it COMPLETELY, then apply the mast with dry hands, otherwise it will just ball up. The sales rep I bought it from recommended scoring lines into it to make taking out what you need easier and I think that was a great idea. When applied it's not super opaque (as shown on my hand above), so don't be worried if you can still see your skin underneath it. As for what I thought about the mask... it was nice, but not my favorite. It doesn't get hard and crusty so it's comfortable to wear while you're waiting to remove it. When I removed it my skin did look even and feel soft, so it's definitely not a bad mask by any means. I just think for the price I would rather rebuy Mask of Magnaminty from Lush. You get double the product for about a dollar more, and the shelf life is longer.
