If there is one beauty routine I don't care for, it's hair. I'm not good at doing my hair and it is not enjoyable. Washing my hair, detangling, and then drying it is a pain in the ass. But since I don't plan on shaving it all off, I have to deal with it. Here are the products that make it a bit more bearable for me.
LUSH I Love Juicy Shampoo- 16oz for $32.95
|
I have had the worst time trying to find a shampoo that doesn't fade my color, but also gets my hair clean. I Love Juicy Shampoo from Lush is the only one I have found that I can use on a daily basis that doesn't cause buildup. There is nothing worse than your hair drying only to find out that it is actually a greasy mess. I don't know if your guys' hair is as finicky, but if my hair doesn't agree with a certain shampoo, I get a giant oil slick right on the back of my head. Usually I will try a new shampoo that seems to be working for a few weeks, but eventually run into this same problem. Luckily if I get adventurous and try something new that doesn't work, a wash with this shampoo will correct my mistake. I typically wash my hair every other day since my roots get oily but my ends are dry. This shampoo seems pretty well suited to that combo. I still have to use conditioner, but it doesn't leave the rest of my hair totally parched.
It contains fresh fruit juices (mango, pineapple, and papaya to name a few), so it smells absolutely incredible. It also works up to a nice lather. This is probably due to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate being the second ingredient used, which is a controversial ingredient. I have tried to find an SLS free shampoo that works, with no luck, so I do not even care. Lush has this to say on their site about why they include SLS in some products, if you are curious. Is this as gentle as color safe shampoos? Probably not, but what is the point if my hair is left a greasy mess? I feel like I also get a lot of bang for my buck with this. A little goes a long way, and I have been working on this particular bottle for about a year now. If you guys have any suggestions for shampoos that you think I would like I'm all for trying something new, so please send them my way!

Davines Nounou Hair Mask and Momo Conditioner- 8.45oz for $34, $30 |
Next up are these Davines goodies. On top is the Nounou Hair Mask, on the bottom is the Momo Conditioner. My hairstylist Gab at Siren Salon in Vancouver introduced me to Davines a few years ago and they have far and away the best conditioners I have ever used.
Starting with Nounou, it is a super thick, luxurious, hair mask. On the days that I need some extra hydration, it's the one that I turn to. I actually use it once or twice a week, leaving it in for about 5 to 10 minutes. It smells amazing and leaves my hair feel soft and nourished, but not weighed down.
Momo works well for me as a "daily" conditioner. It has a yummy melon smell that I can't get enough of. The texture is a lot lighter than Nounou's, but it still leaves my hair soft and manageable.
The only thing I don't like about these products is the packaging design. I really don't like tubs, and it's especially annoying with hair products. The product itself is so good that I look past this, but I still wish they would change the packaging. Like the LUSH shampoo, these have also lasted forever. Like probably two years... oops. I know everything has a shelf life but it still works fine so I'm not tossing it until that changes!

Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3- 3.3oz for $28 |
This was another recommendation from my stylist from when I went blond. While I loved having light hair, my tresses just couldn't handle it. We lightened it very slowly over a span of many months and it still got dried out and felt like hay. That might be a little dramatic but it just didn't feel as healthy as my hair did when it was darker.
Olaplex No. 3 is designed to structurally repair hair damage. Olaplex also makes formulas designed for use by professionals- No. 1 and No. 2- at the time of coloring your hair. The No. 3 formula is to be used at home for maintenance between color sessions.
I use it by washing my hair and then towel drying it. Next, I take enough product to saturate my hair, including the roots, and brush it through with a comb to make sure everything is covered. After that I leave it on for a minimum of 10 minutes, but usually longer to really give it time to work. Next I wash it out of my hair and condition as I usually would. When all is said and done and my hair is dry, it feels super light, soft, and conditioned. I definitely think this product lives up to its promise to repair damaged hair. I find that my hair looks much smoother and shinier after I've used it. Ideally I use it once a week, or every other week.

I won't take too much time talking about One Prep Spray from R+Co because APPARENTLY THEY DON'T MAKE IT ANYMORE! I only realized that was the case after I'd already started writing this so my bad. It's a 10 and Pureology make products that I feel perform very similarly if you're looking for heat protector/de-tangler.
Once I'm out of the shower the first thing I do is spritz this all over my head, using about 4 sprays total. Then I go in with my Wet Brush to get to de-tangling. The combo of the spray and the brush makes a world of difference, allowing me to brush out my wet hair without ripping it out of my skull. Also, anytime a product contains heat protectant that is a plus. Between occasional blowdrying, straightening, and curling, my hair definitely needs to be protected.

Ouai Smooth Spray- 4.6oz for $26 |
The Ouai Smooth Spray is the newest addition to my hair game. I saw Fleur de Force recommend it on her YouTube channel and was really interested in trying it after that. This is another spray that is intended to protect and de-tangle, but it is also supposed to cut down on frizz.
Off the bat, this spray is a lot thicker than the R+Co One spray, or the other ones I mentioned in lieu of that one. I personally feel like it's too heavy to use too close to my roots, so I really concentrate this one on the ends of my hair. I spray some on while my hair is still wet, but will also use it on my hair once it's dry to bring some shine and softness back into it. I find that it works well in both cases.

R+Co Outer Space Hairspray- 9.5oz for $29 |
This Outer Space Hairspray from R+Co is kind of the bane of my existence. Reason being, it is $29 for a bottle of it. Some stuff I have no problem shelling out a few extra bucks for, but for some reason spending a lot on hairspray pisses me off. I cannot find anything that I like as much as this. I'm that crazy person who will test the hairspray out in the middle of the store to see if I like it and nothing comes close to this. The Ouai Texturizing Hairspray is the second best thing that I have found, but it doesn't have quite as much hold as this one.
The reason that this is so far above all others for me is the way that it holds my style, but has no detectable texture in doing so. It doesn't leave my hair stiff and crunchy. I don't know how it's possible but it is, and my hair stays in place all day. On top of this, the smell is one of my favorite hair scents of all time. I don't know how to describe it but I love it. And the packaging is super cute- I mean, come on. So basically I am stuck paying $29 for hairspray for the rest of my life I'm pretty sure.
So that is what I've got going on with my dome at the moment. Do you guys have any go-to hair products that you know will always get the job done? Let me know!
