The year is 2020. Coronavirus has changed the world as we know it in a matter of weeks. If you're lucky, the worst of your problems is your dry hands from the constant, diligent washing. Next thing you know, Glossier Hand Cream is born and makes its grand entrance. The time is right, and a new Glossier product is always sure to drum up excitement, but is it worth it?

Before the hand cream was available for purchase, Glossier teased its arrival by announcing that they would be donating the first 10,000 units to frontline medical workers who are busting their asses and whose hands you can imagine needed some extra TLC. A little good PR never hurt, especially during a global pandemic. Even without the feel-good factor, I still would have been curious enough to purchase the hand cream and try it out for myself.

Glossier Hand Cream Packaging
The packaging, like everyone else and their mothers are saying, is reminiscent of AirPods, which is a welcome shape IMO. It doesn't take up a ton of real estate, and is comfortable to hold. The first few times that I used it, I found it difficult to flip the top open, but that issue has since gone away. So far I'm really digging the squeeze body of the packaging. It distributes the cream slowly and stops too much product from coming out at once. I do wonder how much I'll appreciate it once the product starts running low and whether or not it will be difficult to squeeze out at that point, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

I could see the scent being the most controversial thing about this hand cream. Personally, I love it. It was marketed as being reminiscent of the Glossier You perfume. I find this to be completely accurate. They are almost identical to me, but I've seen a lot of folks say otherwise so your mileage may vary. They don't specify on the product page what the notes are, but it reminds me of the amber and pink peppercorn in You. The scent isn't super subtle, but I don't feel like I will choke anyone out with it if I get near them. I am a big fan of scent in a hand cream, and they really nailed that aspect in my opinion. If you do prefer a more subtle scent, this would probably be a pass for you.

Glossier Hand Cream Texture

I find that I'm a fan of the texture of the hand cream as well. It is definitely different from other formulas that I have used. It feels very silky- not greasy in my opinion, I'm not worried about leaving little greasy fingerprints on objects that I touch after applying. It really just makes my hands feel silky smooth, and even leaves a bit of a visual sheen on them. I think it's safe to say most of us are washing our hands and thus moisturizing them more than ever right now, and this hand cream has been working well despite it all. I was prepared to carry around another favorite hand cream just in case Glossier's didn't cut it, but I've found it was completely unnecessary.

If there is one fault that I can find with this hand cream, it's the price point. You are getting 1.7oz for $18. It didn't sound bad at first until I started comparing it with some other favorites. The Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream for example gives you 2.5oz for $15, and the Kiehls Ultimate Strength Hand Salve similarly gives 2.5oz for $16. So the question with this knowledge is, will I buy the Glossier Hand Cream again or stick with the better deals that I know work very well? The answer is, yes I will because I a dumb bitch and it smells good.
