I'm out of hibernation to talk about one of my favorite events of the year: The Sephora Holiday Savings Event! I've sort of abandoned blogging as of late, but feel in the mood to get back in the game and start talking product again. This sale is where I do the majority of my skincare and makeup shopping, so it really gets me thinking about what I want to restock, and what holes I have in my arsenal.

If there is one thing that I know about myself, it's that I hate going to the gym to workout. I hate getting dressed, lacing up my shoes, driving the embarrassingly short distance, and touching the same filthy equipment that everyone else is. Near the end of 2020, I decided I was canceling my membership. I'd been paying for it for years and would go through periods where I'd workout consistently for a few months, then quit. When I canceled, I knew I wanted to get some kind of in-home equipment to try to stay active. I initially thought about getting a treadmill. I think I was actually researching them when I came across people raving about their Peloton bikes. I liked the idea of a bike vs a treadmill because while I love a runner's high, I don't actually love running. Cycling is also more low impact on the knees, which can't be said for running.

Shopping for the holidays can be stressful, when it really shouldn't be. We all know gifts aren't what the holidays are all about, blah blah blah, but it doesn't mean you don't want to try to find a thoughtful gift for the person you're buying for. 

If you're not sure where to start with your shopping list, I find that gift guides can be super helpful. Something on the list may catch your eye, or spark a new idea altogether. I also like being able to shop specific price points to stay on budget. Everything in my shopping guide is a tried and true product that I love and would be (or have been!) stoked to have gifted to me.

My favorite holiday between Halloween and Thanksgiving is almost here- AKA the Sephora VIB Sale. Or maybe it's the Sephora Holiday Savings Event from what I'm seeing on their site now? Either way, when October rolls around, I start getting my cart ready and making a game plan. The past few years my focus has definitely been more geared toward restocking favorite skincare products, but I also find it's a good opportunity to try new things that I might not buy full price. If you aren't already familiar with the sale, the discount percentage and dates you can shop vary by reward member, or Beauty Insider, status. Rogue customers get 20% off starting 11/5-11/15, VIB customers get 15% off 11/9-11/15, and Insiders get 10% off 11/11-11/15. My recommendations below will show the sale price for all products for all three discount tiers.

It's that time of year again! I wait to make the majority of my makeup and skincare purchases during the VIB sales that Sephora has in the Spring and Fall. It's time for my favorite sale of the year, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! After discovering that the Purity by philosophy cleanser was NOT included in the sale this year, I wasn't sure I could go on, but I've mustered up the strength to see what else is available this year and have found some new things I wanna try, as well as some tried and true gems to recommend.

We have a long way to go to ensure equity and justice for all in the United States, but shopping Black owned businesses is just one simple way that we can start. By supporting a Black owned business, you are supporting not only the business owner, but their family and their community. Representation is important, and supporting a Black business owner with your dollar is a way to show that you are invested in seeing that representation. Companies are being put under a microscope more so than usual regarding how diverse their staff if, what their shade range is like, etc and rightfully so. The past two months in the United States have felt like a whirlwind of emotions. The death of George Floyd has been a catalyst for what feels like a modern Civil Rights movement. As a white person, the struggles of BIPOC people really hasn't always been at the forefront of my mind. But why is that? It's not like racism isn't alive and well in 2020. It's insane when I think about it that it took this long for so many of us to wake up and understand that we need to be actively involved in dismantling systemic racism, but now that the wake up call is here, the momentum shouldn't stop.
